Near the end of the global SARS-Covid pandemic, Orlando Taylor began writing Black Music, Politics, and Word Bombs. Affected, like many, by the amplified racism coinciding with the Trump presidency he felt compelled to write, using the available ammunition: words. In these poems he speaks on his anger with the US, isolation, pain, community, gender, love for the black man and himself, fear, God, retribution, reparations, and the power of African/African America history and culture to uplift. All bolstered by the energy of the music that motivated his work or the poems was inspired by the music’s content.
